Markets
Sell one catalog in several countries or regions, each with its own currency, language, tax rules and products.
A market sells the same catalog in a different place with different rules. Use one when you sell in another country or currency, or through another channel such as a marketplace or a wholesale shop.
Product in each market
A market is one place where you sell your catalog. Each market has its own currency, language, country, tax rules and checkout policy, and its own list of products. You keep a single catalog, and only the things around it change from market to market.
Litestore works out prices, taxes, shipping rates and feeds from the market an order belongs to. An order doesn't store a copy of the pricing rules. It stores its market, and Litestore reads the rules from there.
Navigation
The Markets page lists the store's markets. You edit each one in a panel on the same page.
Market setup
New market
Set its currency, language, country and tax rules first. Everything else depends on them.
Products
Open each product and tick the markets where it sells, in the product's Status card.
Market prices
On variants that need an exact figure, add a price in the market's currency. Start with the ones where rounding matters and let the rest convert.
Feed scope
Do this when the market should order products differently.
Market types
Every market has one of six types:
web
marketplace
retail
wholesale
social
mobileMarket settings
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Currency | Sets the currency the market sells in. |
| Language | Sets the language shoppers see. |
| Country | Sets the country the market sells to. |
| Timezone | Sets the market's local time. |
In the database, a market is a Channel record. ProductChannel records which products are available in each market. VariantPrice stores a price for each market and currency.
Product availability
The Status card on every product lists all markets. Tick a market to make the product available there. A product has one title and description in every market; for another language, add a translation.
An unticked product has nowhere to show
If a product isn't ticked for any market, it doesn't appear anywhere that depends on a market, including the feed. It isn't a draft, and it isn't unpublished. If a product seems to have disappeared from the storefront, check the markets ticked in its Status card first.
Prices
Litestore stores one price for each combination of variant, market and currency. A EUR market can have a real euro price that you chose, not a converted dollar price. Rounded prices stay rounded, and a price point that only makes sense in one market stays in that market.
If there's no exact price, the storefront converts from a price that does exist. It doesn't hide the product.
exact price for this variant, market and currency?
↓ yes ↓ no
show it convert from the price that existsThis fallback is intentional. Hiding a product because nobody has set a price in that currency yet would turn an unfinished price list into a broken catalog.
Tax and checkout policy
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Tax method | Chooses manual tax rates or Stripe Tax. |
| Rate | Sets the market's own tax rate. |
| Tax-inclusive prices | Sets whether prices include tax or exclude it. |
| Coupons | Sets whether coupons apply. |
| Loyalty | Sets whether loyalty applies. |
| Points per dollar | Sets how many loyalty points buy a dollar of discount. |
The tax-inclusive setting surprises people most. It isn't just about how prices are displayed. It changes what the number on the product page means, and different countries have different rules.
Translations
Products, collections and categories can be translated into each language a market uses. The admin has no translation editor: ask the assistant to translate the name, description and search fields, and it saves them after you approve. The storefront's own interface text, such as buttons and headings, isn't translated.
Litestore stores each language as its own row, and adding a language doesn't copy anything. You don't clone a product to translate it. The product keeps a single price, stock level and set of options, however many languages you sell it in.
Market feeds
A feed is either Global or tied to one market. A feed tied to a market can order the same catalog differently, without a second catalog. The assistant changes feeds for you; see Feed.
Public product feed
The store publishes its live catalog as structured data for Google Merchant Center and for AI shopping agents. The feed is split into pages, and a large catalog can be read in full without being cut off at some limit.
Nothing is exported or scheduled. Litestore builds the feed each time someone requests it, from the catalog as it is at that moment. After a price change, you don't need to upload a new feed or check on a sync job.
Default market
The market whose slug is default can't be deactivated or deleted. Every order needs a market to work out its prices and taxes, and Litestore keeps one that can't be removed as a fallback.
Fields outside the form
A market also stores a return window and a locale list. Litestore saves and uses them, but this page has no fields for them.
