Options
Keep a library of options such as Size and Colour so the same values don't have to be retyped on every product.
Options are the ways a product's variants differ from each other, such as Size, Colour or Material. You keep a library of them at Catalog → Options and add them to products from there when you build them.
Option library
You import standard sets from Google's product attributes or define your own options. When you build a product, the option picker offers the options from this library.
You keep the library so that you don't have to type the same values on every product.
Option fields
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Display name | Names the option, such as Size. |
| Type | Sets how a value is chosen. |
| Suggested values | Lists the values to pick from. They're editable at any time. |
| Product count | Shows how many products use the option. |
An option has one of four types:
single choice
multiple choices

Turn on Browse to add to import options from the catalog of standard product attributes, which Litestore takes from Google's product attributes.
Sort order
The option picker on a product lists the options that are marked as variant options.
Litestore sorts them by how often the store already uses them, so the options you actually work with appear first, followed by the rest of the standard set you imported.
Variant generation
Once you set a product's options and values, Litestore generates the variant grid from them.
If two variants end up with the same combination of values, the product can't be published until you fix it, so the values you pick also affect whether the product can be published.
An option's values are copied into the product
When you pick an option, Litestore copies its values into the product, and the product doesn't keep a link to the library entry. If you later edit the option's suggested values, the products you already built from it aren't updated.
Library additions
Add an option to the library when you plan to use it again. The product count for each option shows how often it's actually used.
Use New for a one-off option that no standard attribute covers. You don't need to add it to the library afterwards.
Editing a library option doesn't change existing products. They keep the values they had when you added the option.
The library is a starting point. Once you add an option to a product, the product has its own copy of the values.
Related
Products
A product's options build its variant grid, a set of rules has to pass before the product is published, and add-on and related links connect it to other products.
Inventory
The reorder forecast and the low stock list show what to restock, each product has a reorder point, and the movements ledger records every stock change.
