Media
Upload images and videos to the media library once and use them anywhere in the store.
The media library is where you upload images and videos for the store. You upload a file once and then use it on products, collections, pages and anywhere else that needs it.
Litestore keeps one record for each file in the library and stores the uploads in your own S3 bucket. Anything that shows an image points at the library item instead of keeping its own copy, and Litestore links them with an attachment record. One file can appear in a dozen places, and each place can give it a different caption, but the file itself exists only once.

Supported files
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| File size | Up to 50 MB per file |
| Upload rate | 10 files an hour per admin account |
| File types | JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, MP4, WebM, QuickTime |
SVG files
Litestore rejects SVG files on purpose. An SVG can contain scripts. If someone uploaded one and the store's domain served it, they could run scripts on the storefront.
Litestore doesn't rely on the file extension. It reads the file's actual contents to determine its type, and ignores the type the browser reports. A script renamed to .png is still rejected.
Search
The library filters by type (image or video), by source (library or static) and by kind. The search box looks through alt text and filenames.
Static files
The list also shows the design files that come in the storefront's public folder, such as backgrounds, icons, logos and illustrations. They appear under the Static source. They're part of the code, so the admin doesn't delete them.
Image reuse
A library item attaches to a product, variant, collection, category, campaign or user. Images you insert into a page's content also come from the library. The same file attaches to the same owner only once.
| Attachment field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Position | Sets where the file appears among that owner's images. |
| Primary | Marks the file as the owner's main image. |
| Caption | Sets a caption for this place only. |
| Alt text override | Replaces the library alt text for this place only. |
The item's detail page lists every place the file is attached, grouped by type, and marks where it's the primary image. Check this list to see where a file is used before you change it.
Alt text is the only field you can edit after upload
The file itself isn't replaceable, and alt text is the only field the admin can change. For a new photo, upload it again and attach the new file. Deleting a library item is permanent and removes the file from the S3 bucket.
